In this bento: rice topped with black sesame seeds, chicken salad and roasted beets from Fresh by Lisa Hemenway, cherry tomatoes from Ridgeview Farms, and steamed edamame.
The chicken in the salad is roasted on the rotisserie, with chicken from Mary's in Fresno. The salad is made with celery, basil, and garlic. SOOOO tasty. The beets are from a local farm and tossed with Lisa's Hare Hollow raspberry pear champagne vinegar.
I have included this bento in Shannon's What's For Lunch Wednesdays. You should really check it out for great bento ideas, and BONUS, Shannon is donating to her local food bank for every bento posted. Woo hoo!
Those beets look sooooo good. I'm craving some fall flavor and beets just might be the ticket. Yay for getting an awesome bento into your heavy work schedule!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! I love beets too, and Lisa's special vinegar is delicious in this roasted beet salad. Plus my coworker is finally back from his vacation. I now have time for my favorite "B" activities: Breathing and Bento. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Emily! You always have such kind words to share. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lia! Thanks, and it was really nice that this time I didn't have to do the cooking. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Yenny! I think I could have been a bit more creative with the arrangment, but it works. :)
ReplyDeleteNom! Oh, to live and bento in Sonoma County! The roasted beets look especially delish here and I love how the autumnal bento colors pop against the violet background :D
ReplyDeleteThanks bentobird! The background is just a piece of felt, but I love the color too. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have access to such good food! Our local markets will close in a few weeks and we will be left with food trucked in from your great state! No complaints but it does have to travel a bit to get to us in Kansas.
ReplyDeleteHi kris! Yeah, I am totally spoiled with year-round farmers markets. Have you ever tried canning or freezing foods? Even freezing berries or corn will help keep the harvest from completely disappearing.
