Bad Husband Bento

Sigh, I am sure he didn't do it on purpose, but Mr. Sonoma Bento broke one of my favorite bento boxes. I bid you a fond adieu, Ariel Two-Tiered Bento Box. *sobbing

I am kidding, although I did make mean faces at my hubby for about 15 minutes while I was bummed about the loss of this fun bento box. Of course, it cost only about 5 bucks, so it's not a financial blow. But they don't sell them any longer at the Disney Store, and the one I found on eBay is going for 25 dollars. Yeah, I don't think so. (Yes, that's a Tecate beer in his hand. I was determined to get a pic of him shamefully displaying what he did, and he wouldn't put his beer down for the photo.)

The bento I made in this single tier bento box is pretty straight forward. Udon noodles tossed with a homemade shoyu and peanut sauce with sliced carrots and green onions, frozen Aidell's teriyaki meatballs, and frozen edamame. I decided not to heat up the frozen items this time, since I pack my lunches in the morning and they'll thaw by lunch time.

Beverage Pairing Suggestion: The beer my hubby is holding, to drown my sorrows. :)

  1. Oh that's so sad :( Poor Ariel! I've been lucky and hubs hasn't broken any yet. The teriyaki meatballs sound wonderful! I've seen Aidell's sausages but not the meatballs, I'll have to look for them.

  2. Aw, RIP Ariel box. I have had a latch break on a box very much like that, and I've lost a divider. So sad. It looks like a tasty bento though!

  3. Thanks for your condolences, Heather! Keep an eye out for the Aidell's meatballs, they are perfect for bento as freezer stash.

  4. Thanks sheri, I think I may be able to pick myself up and move on now. ;) The bento was tasty, but would it have been even TASTIER in the Ariel box?? LOL

  5. Oh noes... :( I would of pouted for another 15 minutes or so.

You're great to move on so quickly.

*moment of silence* for the cool Ariel box. RIP

  6. :) Thanks Debra! I have sooo many bento boxes, so it's not such a horrible thing. But still, it was really cute. It reminded me of your sad bento spill recently. I would be more upset about dropping a finished bento than breaking an empty box.

  7. Oh no! Bento box is like a treasure for us hehehe ... Maybe your hubby will buy a new one for your, Valentine's Day surprise? My hubby broke the clip of my Hello Kitty egg mold before and now I have to use rubber band. Yummy bento will always cheer you up :)

  8. Lia is right! You should have him break the other clip and then you can use your bands to hold it together! Love your simple bento. let it thaw, so much easier! :)

  10. Bad boy, bad! Did you whack him on the nose with a rolled-up sushi mat? Or rub his nose in it?

Last time I was at the Disney store, I was sorely tempted to get the little green bento box with a picture of the aliens from the Toy Story movies, but I really can't justify buying more containers unless I "accidentally" break some.
