Und fuer meine Bento Freunde die nicht Deutsch lesen koennen: The rest of my bento posts will be in German. APRIL FOOLS! ;-)

  2. Thanks Bhevarri! I had to concoct my own curry ketchup using curry powder and ketchup. I miss it too, such a vivid memory from my school days in Germany. Ich hab einige Deutsche Fans von diesen Blog, es freut mich sehr!

  3. Looks delish! You shocked me for one moment before I read the last line in your post. I think I will need to use google translate if your posts will be in German lol :D

  5. Ha ha, Lia! This bento made me a little nostalgic for Germany, so I decided to write it all in German. :) It is good practice, and I hope I did not make too many errors.

  6. Thanks Bentobird! You've got the best international cuisine in your area! So inspiring and I am sure it helps with "bento makers block": when you can't figure out what to put in your bento. :)

  8. Yay Mrs. P! My post is pretty straight forward, and there are lots of words that are close enough to English that you can piece together the meaning. I like to read German and French bento posts without using the google translator, just to see how much I can understand. I'm not too good with French, but I can pretty much understand all of the German bento posts. :)

  9. ha ha very funny bento :D But these are no real Weisswurst. The original are thicker and normally we don't eat them grilled but cooked in a broth :) It's better to call them "Bratwurst".

Dein Bento gefällt mir sehr gut! :D

  14. Ehm, sorry to correct Token in one point (word): broth. Weisswurst is heated in pure water. And never never (!) try to cook it in the water - it will result in a disaster. But where Token is nearly right - the leftover heating water is called "Weisswurschtbrühe" - Weisswurst broth. It is to be thrown away as the water you heat Wieners in. And just to know to all people outside Germany: Typical (just heated, not grilled) Weisswurst needs a special sweet/grain mustard to be yummy. Pretzel is optional but the only real one companion to Weisswurst. The "Würstel with Sauerkraut" as shown look like Nurembourghers. They could be served grilled with Sauerkraut too.
@SonomaBento: Would you like to tell me a little bit about your association to Germany?

  16. Hi einfachbento! These are Nuremburger sausages that I got from a place called Trader Joe's. They reminded me of Weisswurst, but of course they are not. I spent two years in Germany as an exchange student, one year in high school, one year in college. I lived near Frankfurt, Basel (aber immernoch in Deutschland), and Ingolstadt during those two years. I really miss Germany and hope I can make a visit again in the future. Ich weiss schon dass mein Deutsch nicht Perfekt ist, aber es freut mich sehr zu ueben. Ich mag gerne Deutsch lesen, besonders Deutsche Bento Blogs. :)
