Sunny Side Up Bento

We have been having cooler weather here in Wine Country the last few days, and it was even a little misty on my way to work. Bleh. So I thought some sunny positive bento affirmations might coax the sun to come back out. Plus I was inspired to make these pancakes and do a breakfast bento after I saw this cute bento on the Happy Little Bento blog!

In this bento: heart shaped pancakes (I made a bunch and put them in the freezer), cherries from Hamlow Ranch, a few slices of maple sausages, cucumber from Crescent Moon Farms, cherry tomatoes, and half of a Petaluma hard boiled egg. I made the sunny face with nori and the rays of sunshine with black sesame seeds. Come back out Sun! We miss you!

  2. Hi Lyndsey, it warmed up a wee bit, but it should still be much nicer than it is for July in Northern California.

I see we both had pancakes on the brain today, how fun!

  3. your sunny egg is adorable. As are the heart shaped pancakes.

When you slice the egg in half, do you eat the other half right away or is i fine wrapped and in the fridge for the next day?

  4. Hi KL! I wrapped up the other half and will put it in tomorrow's bento, or eat it on a salad tonight. The yolk might discolor a bit, so the less air it comes in contact with, the better.

  6. Kelly, I know, I feel bad for complaining, knowing how you all are slammed with the heat. And honestly, it's better for the grapes to have cool mornings and moderate afternoons. But I want some heat, baby! :)

  12. Thanks Lia! Your photos and presentation are always so inspiring to me. I used my step daughter's Care Bears blanket for the backdrop on this one. :-)
